Hard as it may be to believe, my first blog post was published on LinkedIn, June 23, 2015. The article was titled Customizing Your Resume Isn’t Brain Surgery (Or Rocket Science) and after nine years, re-reading it today, I stand by the information.
What does this mean for the warfighter in transition you ask? Simple, getting hired hasn’t changed much. Technical credential requirements change, so too educational degrees, and most certainly industry at every level change on an almost daily basis. What doesn’t change (much) is how organizations choose which candidate to hire, and WHY!
My efforts to assist warfighters make their transition back into the civilian workforce are made for one simple reason, I embrace Muhammad Ali’s admonition that “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth.”
In the weeks and months ahead, I intend to post a twice-weekly blog that intends to provide simple “Tips for Your Transition”. Basically, insight I’ve gained in a recruiting career that’s spanned over 25 years and a wide swath of industries, federal agencies, private and non-profit organizations.
Make it a GREAT day,
